Certificate of Membership – GL of Washington
Recently I was contacted by a family who found a Masonic Certificate within an old desk drawer dated 1887. The family asked if we could meet at the GLO Library and Museum so I could look at the item.
The Brother who is mentioned in this certificate was found within the Archives of the Grand Lodge of Washington F. & A.M. and was shared by Assistant Grand Secretary, VWB Clayton La Vigne.
Information:
Brother Tum Morris.
He joined our Rockford Lodge shortly after it was chartered, then demitted that Lodge to become the first Worshipful Master of Fairfield Lodge, No. 142.
Rockford is about a half hour south of Spokane.
Over the years, both Lodges consolidated into Waverly Lodge, No. 231, south of the other two Lodges. Fairfield in 1984, and Rockford in 2005. It is joked that the membership of the Waverly Lodge No. 231 is almost the same as the population of Waverly, Washington. And it’s not far off – the population of Waverly, Washington at the 2010 Census was 106, and our Waverly Lodge No. 231 has 87 members.
